You hear the word “quarantine” and automatically hear the long list of things we’re not allowed to do these days. But perhaps you should think of all the opportunities this slower lifestyle offers.
So you have slept until your sleep pattern is non existent.. binge watched all your favorite shows,the not so favorite ones and then some.
Here are some of my thoughts on a few things you can do during this downtime;
1.Love on yourself – if you feel tired, rest. Self care looks different for everyone but if you’ve been meaning to try out all those home remedies to sought out your skin or hair now is the time. I did a bomb moringa face mask last weekend that I really loved and will be sharing later in case anyone is interested.
2.Read that book you’ve been putting off – reading has always been a great escape and who doesn’t need that especially now?
3.Look at the goals you set at the start of the year. We are almost starting the second half of the year.Think about whether or not that is still what you want for the year and re-adjust them if need be. I’ve heard people say they’ve cancelled their goals for 2020 and replaced them with “staying alive”. I still believe 2020 has more to offer than staying alive.”what you lose on the stretch, you gain on the curve” I pray there is more once we round this bend.
4.Start teaching yourself the habit of drinking water.Fill a jug each day with the aim of finishing it by the end of the day. Preferably two litres and beyond.
5.Work on your relationship with God.Take time to tell God what you want the rest of the year to look like.Set a time each day to pray and read the bible.
6.Write that proposal or research the feasibility of that idea.Whether you are in corporate or a creative this is a great time to hone in on your skills.Examine what it is that is not allowing you to be indispensable in your career.
7.Fortify your immune system with green juice.Whipping up a fresh produce-packed smoothie or a green juice may be too much work on a normal morning but what is normal anymore? These days it’s more important than ever to support your immune system and your waistline with plenty of fresh or frozen fruits and veggies. (See here for a simple green juice recipe)
8. Declutter your house. With all the free time you have,how organised would you say your home is at this rate?
9.Purge your closet.
Go the Marie Kondo way if it doesn’t spark joy it’s time to let it go. Play around with your favorite pieces and you will discover new ways of pairing them.Pro-tip on a way to vamp up your wardrobe as well.case in point never thought this shirt dress (see here) would look so good won as a top/ cover up.
10.Work out-if you are like me and you have been living in the fridge then you notice those extra rolls cropping up…use this time to smash your body goals or at the very least get closer to your ideal weight! Nothing changes if nothing changes remember that!
